Supports Barcodes and Scanners

Barcodes are awesome and the fastest way to locate returning guests. When your clients come back they hand you a card, you scan it and "BOOM" their account pops up. Depending on how you setup the rest of the process you can make FoodBank Manager a scan and enter solution to record visits.

Yes - it is that easy. You scan the card, the guest account pops up in the create visit screen and you push enter. Guest is processed, you got your numbers and life couldn't be easier. Several pantries use this method and they have nothing but nice things to say regarding the process options available to them.

Equipment

You can connect any USB Barcode Reader and Slide Scanner for laptops and the desktop systems but Blue Tooth Wireless Scanners for tablets, iPads and other portable devices that can use that technology. The way Scanners work make them all so similar in how they function there is little difference and connection is easy. We have never tested the magnetic readers to scan drivers licenses but if your looking to do that and it doesn't work we will be happy to make that work for you.

Barcode Supplies

Printing barcodes can be expensive and you would need to buy the card blanks, have a card printer and software to run it. You design your card and print them out assigning a incremental barcode number for each one. You also will need to remember where you left off so when you print a new batch you will know where to start. This is a fairly expensive option and FoodBank Manager does none of this for you. All of this is done from other equipment and software.

Another option many pantries are using is purchasing preprinted cards or key cards. This makes it much cheaper and you don't have to take the time to print out batches of new cards. And each card is pennies per card versus the print it yourself option. Plus you don't have to worry about trying to use the same barcode when using the preprinted ones.
